Comment on " Can There Be a Quark-matter Core in a Magnetar? "

چکیده

We comment on the paper by Tanusri Ghosh and Somenath Chakrabarty, Phys. Rev. D63, 043006 (2001). In that paper it was argued that a first-order transition to quark matter in the core of a magnetar is absolutely forbidden if its magnetic field strength exceeds 1015 G. However, we show in this comment that if the quark anomalous magnetic moment and the population of higher Landau levels is taken into account, it may still be possible for a first-order phase transition from nuclear matter to quark matter to occur in the core of a magnetar. These effects may also obscure the question of whether beta equilibrium favors strange quark matter in the core of a magnetar. PACS numbers : 97.60.Jd, 26.60.+c, 97.10.Cv

Multi fluidity and Solitary wave stability in cold quark matter: core of dense astrophysical objects

Considering the magneto-hydrodynamic equations in a non-relativistic multi uid framework, we study the behavior of small amplitude perturbations in cold quark matter. Magneto-hydrodynamic equations, along with a suitable equation of state for the cold quark matter, are expanded using the reductive perturbation method. It is shown that in small amplitude approximation, such a medium should be co...

Phase Transitions in Dense Matter and Recent Topics of Neutron Stars

Core of neutron star consists of highly dense matter above normal nuclear density ρ0 ≃ 0.16fm , where phase transitions is expected to take place. We review some phase transitions and recent topics of neutron stars. INTRODUCTION There exist many candidates of the phase transitions in highly dense nuclear matter: boson condensation (K,π), quark matter, hyperonic matter and so on [1]. They are of...

Magnetar oscillations pose challenges for strange stars

Compact relativistic stars allow us to study the nature of matter under extreme conditions, probing regions of parameter space that are otherwise inaccessible. Nuclear theory in this regime is not well constrained: one key issue is whether neutron stars are in fact composed primarily of strange quark matter. Distinguishing the two possibilities, however, has been difficult. The recent detection...

محاسبه ساختار ستاره کوارکی

In this paper, we have considered that the strange-star consists of quark matter from its center to surface. For quark matter, we have used two models, the MIT bag model and string-flip like model. In the bag model, the energy of the system has been considered the kinetic energy of the particles of system in addition to a constant B. We have considered two states for B, one of them is constant...

Rigidly Rotating Strange Quark Star

The possibility of the existence of quark matter dates back to early seventies. Bodmer remarked that matter consisting of deconfined up, down and strange quarks could be the absolute ground state of matter at zero pressure and temperature. If this is true then objects made of such matter, so-called ”strange star”, could exist. There are several proposed mechanisms for formation of quark stars. ...
